A Siaya woman and her 2-year-old daughter who went missing a week ago were today rescued from a gang of five abductors by a joint team of Ugunja-based officers.
The 20-year-old victim and her daughter had been staying at a relative’s house at Siaya’s Sindindi area days before their mysterious disappearance.
Acting on intelligence, the officers raided two separate houses within Luanda township in Siaya where the two victims had been confined.
Five suspects, who detectives established were behind the heinous felony were nabbed during the rescue operation.
The five aged between 18 and 29 years include an 18-year-old woman who kept custody of the juvenile as the mother was held separately over unestablished motives.
A Toyota Premio into which the victims were hurled during the November 2 abduction was also recovered.
Further investigations are ongoing as detectives believe the gang is behind a spate of violent robberies reported within the County.
